Cynthia Hyatt Shorris grew up loving three things: writing poetry, drawing, and babysitting for neighborhood kids.
She is a watercolor painter and children’s picture book author. Cindy lives in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and The Writers’ Loft.
She got her graduate degree in school psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and has worked as a psychologist in various settings around the country.
Two of Cindy’s poems were published in Friends and Anemones, Ocean Poems for Children, 2020. Another poem was presented to the Wickford Art Association where an artist brought it to life.
She loves traveling and spending time at the beach.
Her stories often depict children’s views of the world, rescue dog adventures, and multicultural and multi-generational relationships.
