GIANTS (Greece)
Many cultures have stories about extra-large humanoid creatures. Often the giants are described as being stupid, cruel, and prone to eating people. The best way for a hero to kill a giant is by wit, rather than muscle.
There are kindly giants in mythology too, but they are rare.
