Certainly, one of the best places to uncover poems for friends is inside several amazing children’s poetry anthologies that are available in your local bookstores or libraries. While discovering poems specifically about friendship is tricky, here are some possibilities. These poems express a range of emotions, from the fear of monsters under the bed to a yeti searching for love. May your young reader discover the perfect poem to share with a friend, old or new.

The Backstory

What better way to cap off the 2023 Backstory lineup than by featuring 109 creators? It’s true! Now while I can’t chat with all 109 creatives at once, I am lucky enough to have the captains at the helm of this literary ship, co-editors Kristen Wixted and Audrey Day-Williams here to talk all things GNOMES & UNGNOMES: POEMS OF HIDDEN CREATURES, the latest poetry anthology releasing from The Writers’ Loft.

I’m so thrilled to be doing the cover reveal for GNOMES and UNGNOMES Poems of Hidden Creatures created by writers and illustrators of The Writers’ Loft.
This is the first time that I’ve submitted poems because I’ve never really felt like I knew how to write poetry. But since the topic was mythological creatures which I love and there was a special call for Haiku poems, I decided to give it a go. I especially wanted to include Asian mythological creatures from China, Japan, and Korea since my children are a mix of these three.
