Gnome & UnGnome Facts About Jeanne:
Jeanne is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire (BA in German, Speech, and Drama) and Simmons College (MS in Library Science).
Jeanne would admit that her knowledge is an inch deep and a mile wide, for which she compensates by knowing where to find out just about everything.
She likes knitting, swimming, and crossword puzzles, and in good weather can be easily spotted sipping iced tea on her porch, watching the world go by, and of course, reading.
She loves the Red Sox (even in the bad years) and enjoys an occasional visit to the venerable Fenway “Pahk,” as the locals say.
An avid traveler, she has visited 49 states, many since retiring. Care to guess which is the 50th state?* She was an exchange student in Germany and traveled around western Europe, although that was quite a few years ago and things have changed (starting with the Berlin Wall…).
She reads voraciously: mysteries, biographies, humor, armchair travel, poetry, medical stories, history (fiction and nonfiction), children’s books for all ages, travel guides, contemporary romance, cereal boxes, and pretty much everything with print.
Jeanne is a retired award-winning reference librarian with a wide range of publishing credits. Besides the ground-breaking Children with Cancer: a Reference Guide for Parents (Oxford University Press), she was for 20 years a popular local columnist, known as Littleton’s Erma Bombeck. With a late-blooming interest in history, she has written and edited a number of curriculum-enrichment publications, editions of corporate history, and light verse. With all her free time in retirement, she has tackled fiction writing, combining her love of words, research, and poetry on the mythical road to publication. In a perfect world, her next book will be a historical novel in verse.
