Absol’s Q&A with Lindsay:

Lindsay, it’s lovely to meet you! Thanks for being our LEGEND of the WEEK!

Tell us what magical or legendary creature you’d be if you could?
I’d like to be a dryad that lives in a nice tree – perhaps a flowering fruit tree or a willow. I love the wind in my hair, the sun on my face, and (naturally) a good tree house!

I can confirm that the Dryad’s live a pretty sweet life.

Can you tell us a little about how you came to be a part of Gnomes & UnGnomes? How did you hear about the Loft and this project?
I heard about The Writers Loft through the MetroWest Writers Guild! I love the title of Friends and Anemones and was intrigued by a poetry anthology about more exotic cryptids and creatures. When inspiration struck, I had to write a poem!

Oh so you know my friend Kyra who isn’t a shapeshifter but definitely wears many hats. I love your tautogram about the Selkie. How did you came to choose her?
When I was young, my grandfather would take us seal watching off of Cape Cod. When you see a seal’s big, expressive eyes peeking above the water, it’s pretty easy to imagine their life below the waves. I also learned about selkies – the Scottish seals who can shed their skin and adopt the appearance of a human – when I was young and found them fascinating. A few years of living in Scotland and England cemented my interest in the creatures and folktales of the British Isles, so the selkie was a natural choice for me!

What’s great in your life right now that you want to share, personal or professional? Some wins?
I took a hot air balloon ride over the pyramids of Teotihuacan this autumn. What a way to get a birds-eye view of a legendary site!

Wow. That sounds terrible, but I can see by your excitement it was actually quite wonderful for you.

Do you have a favorite poet?
One of my all-time favorite poets is Ogden Nash. I love his sense of humor, brevity, keen observation, and creative rhymes.

He’s mine too! Talk about a legend. Little gnome fact, I taught Ogden 82% of what he knew about poetry. Don’t quote me. Thanks for your time, Lindsay!
