NESSIE (Scotland)
Gnomes & Ungnomes anthology has a few poems based or loosely based on the Loch Ness monster, by name Nessie, a large marine creature believed by some people to inhabit Loch Ness, in Scotland. Loch is the Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Scots word for a lake or sea inlet
Reports of a monster inhabiting Loch Ness date back to ancient times. Notably, local stone carvings by the Pict depict a mysterious beast with flippers. The first written account appears in a 7th-century biography of St. Columba.
