Just your average shape-shifting, blood-sucking hag!
Soucouyants belong to a class of spirits called jumbies.
According to Caribbean folklore, the soucouyant appears as a reclusive old woman by day. When the sun sets she ditches her wrinkled skin and she flies across the dark sky in the form of a fireball in search of a victim. She can enter a home through the tiniest crack.
To stop her from entering your home spread rice outside. She will be compelled to count each grain at which point the sun will begin to rise.
