YETI (ASIA, Buddhism)

The beautiful thing about the intersection of art, poetry, & mythology is the possibility that a fearsome Yeti is just looking for love & is, as depicted above by artist Creedance Kenna, more adorable than abominable.

The Yeti myth tells of a terrifying ape-like creature roaming the Himalayan mountain range in Asia.

Adopted into Tibetan Buddhism, The Yeti are considered a nonhuman animal (tiragyoni) that is human enough to sometimes be able to follow Buddhist beliefs.*

Like other myths, the Yeti legend has taken on a life of its own & in 2016 was featured on the Kyrgyz Republic’s (Kyrgystan) stamps! Prompting the public to ask, “Is our mail there, Yeti?” Probably.
